Week 4 (Pre-Production)

Towards the end of last week, Millie and Julia confirmed that we would be shooting in the Alfred Tennyson building (large) studio on 1st April. In the studio space, we plan on constructing a four-walled dressing room set that belongs to Madeleine Beaumont in the theatre. In preparation for this shoot, and in line with Emma’s production design, we ventured into the studio to paint the flats on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th March. Seeing the flats in-person allowed me to gauge their size and, along with Emma’s choice for red paint on the walls, meant I could begin preparing my camera and lighting set-up plans for all scenes in the dressing room location.

Javier and I collaborated in finishing the storyboards for vital scenes in the script. Using the shot list I had compiled the week prior, I sent Javier a list of the scenes which involve the most complex camera techniques and lighting; these will be the focus of our test shoots next week. The list includes:

· The phone conversation between James and Madeleine (Scene 14)

· James finding Madeleine’s body (Scene 20)

· Elisabeth being interrogated by Detective Foster (Scene 22)

· Foster smoking outside the police headquarters (Scene 26)

· Madeleine’s murder (Scene 32)
