Julia Smith

Producer/Screenwriter

Julia is one of the producers on Murder At Curtain Call. She is in charge of the budget and funding aspect as well as the marketing and distribution. During this project Julia will make sure that everything runs smoothly and that we are on track.

Julia has studied film for 6 years, but she has been creating short films since a very young age. In the past year Julia directed a short documentary/promotion video in Puebla, Mexico which later got streamed on the Mexican News as well as posted on well known Mexican celebrities social media platforms. Prier to her this, Julia made two award winning short films in Shanghai, FOREST and The Box.


She recently produced and directed a short film called I AM 97 base on the me2movement. The film is based the difficulties it is on coming forward and speaking to police about these things. As well as how it mentally impacts these women!




She is very excited to take on this project as it is her biggest yet!

Amelia Leader

Producer/Screenwriter

Amelia Leader - Producer As one of the Producers on Murder at Curtain Call, Amelia is primarily in charge of pre-production tasks, including Casting, Locations, and on set management; working closely with each team member to ensure the films creativity is pushed to its full potential.


Being the first time working within the realm of Noir, she is excited to get stuck in to a project set in a completely different era. It has already made it so interesting searching for potential actors and locations which would portray the narrative in the directors vision.


Whilst only beginning her studies in film during university, Amelia has exhibited strong dedication within each project she has undertaken. Working with Julia on I AM 97, acting as Cinematographer and Co-Producer, she is now able to fully commit her time into the role of Producer and bring Murder at Curtain Call to the same success.

Javier Pérez De Lema Campos

Director/Screenwriter

Javier is the Director and Co-screenwriter of Murder at Curtain Call. He’s in charge of ensuring that all the creative departments are headed towards a same unified goal. He’s worked with all the members of the core team previously, and has established a good working relationship with all of them.


On Murder at Curtain Call, Javier is excited to work within the noir genre, and push it into the 21st century, creating a modern classic feel for the Neo-noir Murder mystery. The film has lofty goals, being a period piece and a genre film. As a fan of both genres, Javier has been researching both classic films of the genre and modern films that will influence Murder at Curtain Call.


​While being a third year Film Production student, Javier has worked in many roles of Production, including Producer, Editor, Production Designer, and Camera team. He previously directed the short film Memory, which he cites as a good training ground for what is a much more ambitious project.

Jessica Tooth

Cinematographer

New to the production team, Jess is the Director of Photography for Murder at Curtain Call. Having previously worked with Javier and Emma on Undressing the Industry, Jess plans to work closely with the director and production designer to devise the look, colour, lighting, and framing of the film.


As a final year Film Production student, Jess will draw upon films such as Citizen Kane and Knives Out to create a visual style that aims to incorporate common conventions of Noir and combine them with modern technology; the goal is to create a neo-noir murder mystery that transcends all bounds of genre and time.


Jess’ credits include Director of Photography for short film Uncovered and 1stAssistant Camera for Fooling Me, a music video for band Serena Joy. Despite her previous experience on set, Jess has never previously worked within the realms of film noir or murder mystery. She hopes to bring her passion for cinematography and unique creative eye to Murder at Curtain Call, modernising the classic genres for present-day audiences.

Danay Zemichael

Editor/Sound Designer

Danay is the Editor and Sound Recordist for Murder at Curtain Call. Danay is in charge, of making the film come to life by assembling recorded raw material suitable for broadcasting and managing sound. He’ll be working hard with his team to produce the final edit to its full potential.


Noir will be a new genre for Danay. He is already preparing his role by watching classic noir films to have an idea on how a noir picture is intended to look and feel like. He’ll be working closely with the director to try to incorporate the 1940’s aesthetic onto the picture.


While being a third year Film Production student, Danay has worked as an Editor and Sound Recordist in numerous films. He’s previously been editor for Ängel(2022) and Are You Listening (2020). Danay feels that the prior editor responsibilities will help him prepare for this film.

Emma Boogaard

Production Designer

Emma is the production designer on this particular project. She will be in charge of set design and costume, which not are not only vital in capturing the authenticity of the 1940s but should also reflect the personalities of each character. She combines both film noir and Neo-noir elements in the film to create a traditional style film that will appeal to the modern audience.

Emma has worked on past films including and taken up various roles such as directing and cinematography, making her an all-rounded and invaluable crew member for this project. With this extensive knowledge and research, she hopes to skilfully transfer the film into the 1940s era with modern elements.
