Week 10 (Post-Production) – w/c 24th April

During this week, Julia finalised the Electronic Press Kit and asked me to create a section on the visual style of the film. We collaborated on this using Adobe Spark, so Julia could ensure what I had designed was cohesive with the remainder of the document. I talked about my sources of inspiration for the film’s cinematography, as well as the motivation behind the lighting and camerawork of the film. To go along with this, I also filmed Julia and Millie’s behind the scenes interview about their job producing the film. We shot this in the University of Lincoln campus library as the brick walls in the building provide the opportunity for a nice background and match the exterior scene of Detective Foster.

On Friday evening, Julia drove me and Millie up to Bailgate area in Lincoln to film the street shots needed for the introduction of the film. Like the first time we attempted to do this, many issues arose regarding the DJI Ronin. No matter how hard Millie and I tried, the gimbal would not balance. This delayed our shoot massively. However, with the help of Christofer Cano Gahona, we eventually rectified this issue and managed to balance the camera with the 7” BlackMagic Monitor connected. The monitor then wasn’t working, meaning we were unable to shoot in the required 4:2:2 codec that the rest of the film had been shot in. We decided to go ahead with the shoot anyway, and film in the 4:2:1 codec so we at least had some footage that could be used for the opening montage of the film.
