Shooting Day 3 - James’ House (Reshoots) (Monday 28th March)

Fortunately, due to Millie and Julia’s effective scheduling, Monday 28th March had been reserved for reshoots. Reshoots were necessary due to filming in the wrong codec on the first day of shooting, an error that we thankfully noticed early on in production. Prior to shooting, Millie and I drove to the university campus to collect the BlackMagic 5” 4K Video Assist Monitor. This was much easier to use as it could be connected directly to the Sony A7Sii Advanced Kit, meaning I can record on here and Javier could use the 7” monitor to observe the scene.

We reshot the bathroom scene in the morning with Jamie. We were proud of what we had shot already, so attempted to recreate the shots as closely as possible whilst not hyper fixating on this. Considering the minimal space we had within the bathroom, I am incredibly proud of how the shots turned out and how well we worked as a team within this location. I shot as much as I could using a tripod, as I felt still shots better suited the intimacy of this scene, then switched to handheld for the close-up of James. This had to be done as the positioning of the furniture in the bathroom prevented me from getting a frontal shot of James’ face. However, a side angle worked perfectly in concealing James’ facial expressions and thereby, his intentions.

As the bathroom scene was the only reshoot that was needed, I joined the cast and crew for a walk around the Lincoln Bailgate area and a trip to the pub in the afternoon. In the evening, Millie and I spent time with the actors and we cooked them a pasta dish – although we discovered we aren’t great cooks!
