Week 3 Pre-production

Test shoots!

We had a meeting on Monday the 7th with the group online where we discussed where we are at with everything. After the meeting, we all went to collect the equipment for the test shoot outside Lincoln Cathedral. The streets fits the timeframe which our film is set in (1940s). These were found by me in November 2021 so we knew exactly where to go and film. However due to technical issues, these shots have been delayed and will be filmed on Wednesday the 30th Match.

The following day we did a test shoot for the interrogation room and well as trying out lighting for the film to create that noir feeling.

During this week the production designer went shopping for costumes and props. Emma our Production Designer was given at budget of £300 to spend on both props and costume. We walked round vintage shops, antique shops and second-hand shops.

This week I also made a solid shooting schedule which was created with the help of Jessica, our cinematographers shot list. This meant we were able to send our actors and actresses set dates for filming and when they need to be in Lincoln.

Week 4 Pre-production:

This week we also found our James!!! Andre Van Rooyen will be playing our main lead James Millier. After pulling our hair out we found Andre that has previously done theatre performances. We are so excited to work with such talented people!

We also got some unfortunate news that the women that was supposed to play Elizabeth Miller will not be able to come to Lincoln and film. So we are have been on a hunt all week for a new actress to play Elizabeth Miller.

During this week we also got together to paint the walls for Madeline’s dressing room. We were fortunate another to get to film this scene in the TV Studio at the University of Lincoln. Emma our production designer walked around the studio picking out all the props she needed for this scene.

We did another test shoot this week. We tested the interrogation scene again. In addition we also did some for the dressing room scene. We filmed these in seminar rooms so we weren’t able to make it look like the actual set. But our cinematographer Jessica got a feel for how she will be moving the camera.
